Joseph Lindsay has signed with us for his new middle-grade fantasy Liverspot the Witch – The Quest for Castle Crumble. The book is uniquely written by his cat (TJ Lechat) and translated into Humanese by her human.
The Quest for Castle Crumble is the first in the Liverspot the Witch series, a collection of tales of magic and wonder in the eternal fight of good against evil, written in TJ Lechat’s style combining high drama with touches of both humour and pathos.
TJ Lechat was born in the High Pyrenees, on the border of France and Spain, in a mystical area that has a rich heritage going back thousands of years. Her father was Tom Tildrum, the cat Sidhe (pronounced shee) and her mother was a Pyrenean wildcat.
Whilst out hunting one night, she came upon a couple of humans being menaced by ‘Diago’ the local devil dog. TJ rescued them from a fate worse than death and in gratitude they invited her to return with them to the UK which had once been part of her father’s kingdom before the ice melted and created the English Channel.
During the journey, TJ related stories that she had heard when she was a youngling and her companions persuaded her to write them down as a historical record, if nothing else. TJ had always had a bit of a problem with writing, as she didn’t have an opposable thumb, but found that she could use a keyboard quite easily and so developed the stories about the nine spheres.
TJ Lechat now lives in a small village near Northampton with her humans and a number of fellow cats who have been rescued from an uncertain future.
