We are thrilled to announce that Jay D. Waveney has signed with us for her historical fiction novel, Somersham Boy!
Jay D. Waveney showed early potential for creativity with her ‘lack of completed homework’ excuses. However her true love of creative writing came much later in life. Waveney took early retirement to fulfil the dream of having an university education and subsequently gained a 2:1 BA(Hons) in History. The Distinction awarded to her for an additional Creative Writing module gave her the confidence and inspiration to combine the two disciplines of history and creative writing to pen her debut historical novel.
The inspiration for the book is the idea that true reality can only be told by those who experienced the event at the time, and even those recollections can be biased. The dual timelines are a clever interlacing of ‘what they think happened’ with ‘what actually happened’.
Coming 2025, Somersham Boy is an intriguing tale weaving in and out of the 18th and 21st centuries. The timelines centre on a country house, where a series of paintings hold the clues to a mysterious and violent death that seemed to have been covered up. But can the mystery be solved?
