We are absolutely delighted to share that Sarah Spinks has signed with us for her debut children’s picture book, Little Cat Lost!
From a young age, Sarah Spinks has always loved animals, reading and writing. As a child, there were always family pets at home, and her desire to nurture and protect them grew with age. So, it was only natural that when work came calling, Sarah’s first job was as a veterinary nurse. After over a decade of working in the UK, Sarah moved to New Zealand to continue her veterinary nursing career. An unforgettable time in her life, this allowed her to work with sick and injured penguins that came into the practice she worked at in Oamaru from a local rescue.
Returning to the UK, Sarah turned her hand to working for a veterinary charity. Her role was all about education – teaching pet owners all about animal welfare. And the highlight? Every week, Sarah would spend time in schools teaching children all about animals. Keen to expand her voice and educate a wider audience, in 2018, Sarah moved into marketing and education for veterinary practices. After re-igniting her passion for writing, she completed a Diploma in Copywriting with the College of Media & Publishing in her spare time, hoping to combine everything she loved into one place: improving animal welfare, educating and engaging children, and being creative! She currently lives in a pretty village called Eardisland with her husband Derek, cat Tommy, and ‘the world’s cheekiest Labrador’, Max.
Little Cat Lost takes readers on an emotional journey through the eyes of Dot, a frightened cat who runs away from home to escape the booming chaos of fireworks. But what starts as a frantic escape soon turns into a lesson in courage, communication, and the power of asking for help.
With its engaging storytelling and heartfelt message, Little Cat Lost is a must-read for families with young children!
