We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Putri Soraya has signed with us for her supernatural mystery, Silhouettes of Inheritance!
Putri Soraya was born in Kuala Lumpur to a Malay mother and English father. Educated in Malaysia and the UK, she studied Business Studies (majoring in Marketing) at North East London Polytechnic. She began her career in public relations and marketing with London’s top casinos before returning to Malaysia, marrying her husband Nicholas, and raising two daughters. And, in 2011, the family moved to England to be closer to Nicholas’s parents.
Soraya has always believed that ‘a bored person is a boring person’ and embraces a wide range of interests—from big oil and gas machineries to cooking, fashion and singing. Her work at a bank in Cambridge deepened her love for people and storytelling. This led her to enroll in a Creative Writing and English Literature course at the University of Cambridge, where her flair for dark, humorous fiction emerged. Almost at the end of Covid, Soraya left the bank to concentrate on writing her first novel, Silhouettes of Inheritance, inspired by memories of Malaysia and ghost stories from her childhood.
A thrilling story of identity, culture and belonging, Silhouettes of Inheritance follows a woman of mixed Malay-English heritage who is caught between her English upbringing and the spiritual traditions of her late mother. Struggling with her marriage and feeling disconnected from her roots, she receives a letter informing her of an inheritance in Malaysia—a house from a relative she has never met. Seizing the chance for escape and reconnection, she impulsively travels to Malaysia. Expecting a new beginning, she instead finds a decaying shack haunted by a violent spirit. With the help of a local guide and shaman, she delves into her family’s dark past, uncovering buried secrets and confronting supernatural horrors.
