We are absolutely delighted to announce that Katie Scorah has signed with us for her heartwarming children’s picture book, The Ship’s Cat!
Katie Scorah is a teacher, mother and friend who has always loved writing stories. From an early age, she would write tales about her own pets, making animals the stars of the show – her very first story was about her childhood Golden Retriever, Jake. Katie is partially sighted, but felt determined that this would never hold her back. She studied English Language and Literature at St Edmund Hall, a college of the University of Oxford. After university, Katie qualified as a secondary school English teacher, and began her teaching career in 2010. She feels particularly passionate about literacy, and about encouraging a real love of reading in young people. Katie lives in the North East of England with her husband Ainsley, their daughter Effy, and their black rescue cat Bellatrix.
The Ship’s Cat is the heartwarming story of a black cat, Bella, who feels lonely, unloved and friendless as everyone believes black cats bring bad luck. Until, one day, she meets a pirate captain who tells her that on board a ship, black cats actually bring good luck, and invites her to join his crew!
Sail the high seas with Bella as she battles with Percival, the captain’s mischievous parrot, to find her place on board the ship and find friendship in the most unlikely places.
