We are deeply saddened to share that Kerry McIntosh, author of Rory Green Secret Agent to the Queen, passed away peacefully on Tuesday the 19th of November, with her husband by her side.
When Kerry first signed with us, back in December of 2021, we knew she had a hilarious and heart-warming story to tell, but we could never have anticipated how much joy she would bring to both our lives and the lives of her readers. Her passion and enthusiasm made her a delight to work with, and her determination to share her positivity and the environmental message of her book with others was truly inspiring. Following publication, Kerry worked tirelessly to spread the message of Rory Green as far and wide as possible, attending numerous school visits and engaging children in environmental conservation through her #RorysGreenTeam campaign, encouraging kids to get involved with everything from tree-planting to litter picking.
Kerry’s husband, Paul, says:
“I am so immensely proud of Kerry’s achievements in so many areas of our lives together, but this one takes first place. To write and publish her dream book took superhuman efforts – but Kerry believed. She was a force for good, for nature, for people.
On the second anniversary of her book launch, it would be a fitting tribute to her for the book to be shared far and wide, for her stories to be read to children around the world, and for us all to be a bit more like Kerry.”
Kerry wrote Rory Green after recovering from her first battle with breast cancer. She said that her cancer journey was “a terrifying reminder that time is not in fact infinite and can be taken away at any moment, and those dreams that I’d been merrily working towards at a saunter needed to be moved along at pace, with purpose.”
We are so honoured to have been involved in making her dream a reality, and hope that her legacy continues to live on through her writing and the impact Rory Green has had on so many. Our thoughts remain with her husband, her two sons, and the rest of her family during this difficult time.
