Ronnie Brown is an author from Yorkshire, UK. His first novel Restless Souls was published in January 2023. During his former teaching career, he studied for an MA at Sussex University in Art History and Critical Theory. In 2000 he completed his Doctorate at Sussex. At 60, he retired from academe, and ran a gardening business, played and recorded five self-penned albums under the name Poverty Lane. As an academic, he published several articles, reviews and a hardback book named The Art of Suicide. (Reaktion Books). He is currently working on his fourth novel and a children’s story.
Grass is a suspenseful crime novel that deals with the working class and their unease with contemporary politics. It highlights the disparate nature of the alt-right, as the main character searches for a way to minimise the harm caused by the right and the disenfranchised.
Penny has always had a knack of finding trouble, this time in bucket loads; from local thugs, the police, and the far-right and the establishment. Will he survive?
‘Codger’, an old friend of Penny’s is killed. Daubed on his wall is the word Grass. Penny, decides to investigate after an incident following the funeral. As per usual all hell breaks loose. With sinister goings on in the police force, parliament and streets, and the alt-right as enemies Penny has his work cut out.
