We’re excited to announce TJ Davies has signed with us for her riveting dystopian debut, The Lottery!
TJ Davies has loved stories for as long as she can remember. Her passion for storytelling evolved following her experience of raising a high-needs autistic child. Through her writing, TJ hopes to bring more awareness and empathy to those living with complex disabilities, neurodivergencies, and everything in-between. She writes from lived experience, celebrating the messy, beautiful chaos of family life, and the unique voices that would otherwise go unheard.
The Lottery centers around family loyalty and the lengths we would go for the ones we love. It explores medical exploitation and the corruption of hope and how easily it can be used against us.
North America lies in ruins, decimated by a virus that has plagued the nation for centuries. Fear drove the rich and powerful behind the walls of The District, hoarding medicine and healthcare and leaving the rest of the population to fend for themselves.
In a small village north of The District, 17-year-old William Ennison works tirelessly to care for his family after the Virus claimed his father. But now his little brother is sick, and Will is desperate to save him.
Inside The District 21-year-old Valerie Leigh lives a comfortable life, until she learns her father, long presumed dead, might still be alive.
Their only hope is The Lottery. Held in the facility where her father worked, Valerie hopes to find answers about his disappearance. For Will, it is a one-in-a-million chance to save his brother.
But The District has an alarming secret:
In The Lottery, there are no winners.
